Hoping to be usefull to somebody: you may be noticed that in Ubuntu karmic 9.10 version, trying to rip a cd, comes out the following error, the the program will crash:

(sound-juicer:32507): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_entry_set_text: assertion `text != NULL' failed

(sound-juicer:32507): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_entry_set_text: assertion `text != NULL' failed

(sound-juicer:32507): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_show: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

** (sound-juicer:32507): WARNING **: Inhibit problem : The name org.freedesktop.PowerManagement was not provided by any .service files
Segmentation fault

One of the way to solve this is to recompile the source from the official site by typing ./configure && make && sudo make install , but first you should install the headers to compile the whole sources. In this case i can help you giving you the list of dependencies:

apt-get install libmusicbrainz4-dev libgnome-media-dev libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev libgstreamer0.10-dev libcanberra-gtk-dev libdbus-glib-1-dev libgconf2-dev libglade2-dev libgtk2.0-dev libbrasero-media-dev intltool

Cheers! :)

I must say sometimes it's glad to know either our own job is appreciated by someone or that could be needed by someone in any way.

'Cause of this i'm pleased to announce the my hack of OpenCms for SmartCard authentication, leaded by professor Miculan, has been linked by  Swik.Net (without having requested it :D).

it's a short satisfaction, but.. ! :)

The doc is out!

And, finally, that's it!

The PDF explains the most crucials concepts of the behaviour of the single components (from Bootloader to Scheduler) as the switch from Real Mode and the Protected Mode, the one between contexts of many processes and various functions like those made in assembler which by their nature are very hard to understand.

To download the documentation you may follow this  link; feel free to send me an email if you find any error or imprecision!

There is another thing to say: Linux has a penguin as symbol, GNU has the gnu and Minix has the cocoon. Let's say.... well! If the whole set of operative systems have their mascotte, markix must have his own too! and i was thinking to myself: Markix is small, fast, smart and funny of course! :D then...

It's funny! isn't it? :D

Ok, once found the mascotte i have finished for today. I wish you a merry christmas and if there will not be any updates i wish you an happy new year as well! :)
